The festive season is upon us! The bags for Saint Nicholas need to be filled again, the presents take their place under the Christmas tree, and for New Year we all want to don a dazzling new outfit, which means a lot of orders are placed during these periods. Especially now!

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 virus hasn't left our country yet and the norm is to stay at home as much as possible! Normally, ordering is already very convenient during this busy time of year, but with all the measures to quickly get Corona under control, ordering is also the safest way to shop! And now that Saint Nicholas is back in the country, even more orders will be placed. From a survey by ING, 23% of helper Saints indicated they are shopping online for presents. In 2018, this was 18%. This year, especially with the corona measures, we can expect another increase online. Which, of course, means that this year customer service departments will be even busier. With these 4 tips, you can make it a celebration! Happy staff means happy customers.

Tip 1 Share success stories

It's always good to learn from each other and provide feedback. But it's also fun to share your success stories with each other. Did your client hang up with a smile from ear to ear? Share with your colleagues why this was. Did you offer just that little bit of extra service? Or did you crack a joke during the conversation that lightened the mood? Share this with your colleagues and learn from each other's successes. It's a free gift to your colleagues!

Tip 2 Plan schedules on time

The festive season is a busy period filled with fun and enjoyable activities. Zoom Christmas dinner with friends or wrapping and writing poems together with your family. Schedules are full, both privately and at work. So make sure all employees have their roster in time and take their wishes and needs into account. Has your employee not been able to celebrate Christmas for years because they were scheduled and someone else doesn't care much about the holidays? Plan the schedules accordingly as much as possible. That way, everyone will come to work with a cheerful vibe!

Tip 3 Plan a festive moment with your staff

Unfortunately, this year it won't be possible to plan a gathering at the office. That doesn't mean you can't plan a festive moment with your employees. Think of a video-call Christmas breakfast or a digital Saint Nicholas celebration where everyone reads a poem to each other (this is organized at ContactCare, for example). A bowl of spiced biscuits or bring a Christmas breakfast to everyone, and you'll create a delightful atmosphere for the digital gathering. Too busy in November or December for this moment? Then plan it in the new year and celebrate together the end of a busy but successful festive season!

Tip 4 Pamper your staff a little extra

Are they getting a lot of calls from customers about products sold? Let your staff test some fun products themselves. This way, they not only provide the customer with good advice, but it's also a lot of fun for your staff. Furthermore, the holidays are known for delicious food. As a surprise, place a chocolate Christmas wreath on the desk in the morning with a personal note (if they’re working at the office) or send everyone a digital Christmas card. A small gesture is a big statement!
